J.R. Ramirez Joins Jessica Jones

J.R. Ramirez has joined the cast of Jessica Jones for Season 2.

The Arrow and Power actor will appear in the recurring role of Oscar, a devoted single father who moves into Jessica’s building as the new superintendent. While his young son becomes enamored with Jessica and her powers, Oscar keeps his distance, worrying about the trouble that always ends up following people like her everywhere they go.

"J.R. is an incredible addition to our cast, bringing complex and subtle emotion and humor," says executive producer Melissa Rosenberg. "He exudes warmth, edge and intelligence, and blends perfectly with our tone."

The Flash Will Reimagine The Thinker

This season on The Flash, our heroes will be squaring off against a brand new antagonist in the form of the Thinker. The first major villain to not be a speedster, the character of Clifford DeVoe is sure to present a whole new set of challenges for the denizens of Central City.

Speaking with Cinema Blend at San Diego Comic Con, executive producer Todd Helbing discussed bringing this new villain into the DC TV Universe, one that will be somewhat reimagined from his classic comic book counterpart.

"We’ve reimagined The Thinker, in a way, that he can interact with speedsters and Vibe and Kid Flash and Joe in ways that…He has a way of being involved and not being involved at the same time, is about as much as I can explain it."

The Thinker was referenced twice on The Flash last season by characters who has knowledge of Barry Allen's future. In DC Comics lore, the Thinker is Clifford DeVoe, a character created during the Golden Age of comic books and an enemy of original Flash, Jay Garrick.

The 100 actor Neil Sandilands will portray the new villain on The Flash next season, which has previously been described as The Fastest Man Alive vs. The Fastest Mind Alive.

Starring Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Jesse L. Martin, Keiynan Lonsdale, Tom Cavanagh, Neil Sandilands, Kim Engelbrecht and Danny Trejo, The Flash speeds back to TV screens on Tuesday, October 10th at 8pm.

Gwendoline Christie Praises Deep Story Of The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theatres this coming December, and director Rian Johnson will be using his addition to the long-running franchise to explore certain characters in greater depth than what we got in The Force Awakens.

One character fans will learn a little but more about this time around will be the chrome plated Captain Plasma. Easily a fan-favorite newcomer in The Force Awakens, fans walked away underwhelmed by how the character was used in the J.J. Abrams film.

Despite this, actress Gwendoline Christie had nothing but good things to say about Johnson's vision for the film while speaking with Entertainment Weekly during the Television Critics Association press tour this past weekend. She even took time to share the role she played in further developing the chrome-clad Stormtrooper captain for the new film.

"I was just so delighted to be in The Last Jedi, and for that to be directed by Rian Johnson, who is another director I’ve long admired since I watched Brick, actually; I thought that was a really brilliant piece of work," Christie told Entertainment Weekly. "When I met him, these are huge things to me and things I never thought would happen in my career, so when Rian invited me to read the script, have my thoughts and then to come and discuss it with him — as he did all of the cast members — I was really thrilled to have an opportunity of a forum where I could put my ideas forward and have some back and forth about where we felt things were and where we felt they can go. What I can tell you about the next Star Wars film is I think Rian does an exceptional job of going deeper, of going further, and really exploring what these relationships are."

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theatres on December 15th.
