Akiva Goldsman Finished With Transformers Movies

Prior to the release of Transformers: The Last Knight, Paramount Pictures out together a writer's room set to expand the franchise with numerous sequels, prequel, spinoffs and more.

This initiative was overseen by Akiva Goldsman and the first products to come from this pool of talent was Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight, and the upcoming Bumblebee spinoff from fresh franchise director Travis Knight.

Does this mean that Akiva Goldsman will be involved with future films within the Transformers franchise? Our friends over at /Film presented that exact question to the man today at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, who answered with a simple: "No."

Lorenzo Di Bonaventura elaborated further, revealing that Goldsman and the writers room were only assembled to develop the mythology such as the King Arthur and WWII flashbacks seen in Transformers: The Last Knight.

"The writers room, which was set up by all of us, was set up to explore the mythology more. It was set up for a few different reasons but the biggest thing that happened in it was they expanded the mythology of Transformers in a way that allowed us to go to King Arthur. There’s different areas, like we’ve examined World War II, etc."

Despite this, Goldsman is keeping busy. Currently, he is working as an executive producer on the hotly anticipated CBS All Access series Star Trek: Discovery, which premieres next month.
