The Dark Tower Takes Top Spot At The Box Office

The Dark Tower opened at the top of the North America box office this weekend.

An adaption of Stephen King's popular book series, the Columbia Pictures flick grossed an estimated $19.5-Million from 3,451 different theatrical locations.

Internationally, The Dark Tower brought in an additional $8-Million from 19 separate markets, with $4.1-Million coming from Russia alone. Over the next few weeks, the film will also see release in such countries as France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Spain, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom respectively.

Adding these two totals together, The Dark Tower closed out its first weekend in circulation with a rather soft $27.5-Million worldwide.

There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

Starring Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Katheryn Winnick, Alex McGregor, Jackie Earle Haley and Abbey Lee Kershaw, The Dark Tower is in theatres now.
